Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper becomes the star

Stampin’ Up! has some of the most beautiful patterned paper – beautiful images, amazing textures and coordinating colours.  So when I saw the sketch for this month’s Global Stampers Challenge I knew that I wanted to feature some Designer Series Paper.  I chose Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Christmas Holiday Catalogue.   Even though it is from this catalogue, it is not Christmas themed and can be used all year round.  And whilst it is a little difficult to see this in the photos, each piece of the 12″  x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) paper is shimmery or I what would call it, ‘pearlised’.

The Global Stamper’s Challenge Sketch – December 2018

 

Card sketches are a great way to inspire you to get out of your ‘comfort zone’.  They provide a design layout for a project.  But these layouts do not have to be strictly adhered to.  Sketches include basic shapes and designs drawn on the layout but usually, no other instructions are given. Therefore, you can use your favourite papers, stamps, colour schemes and any other embellishments that you wish to use to create your cards. A single card sketch or pattern can be adapted for many different uses, simply by varying the colours of paper or the types of stamps used.  Have a go at using this sketch in the lead up to Christmas and post your creations on my Facebook page to inspire us all.

Tips and tricks and all the details

I will be featuring this card on Facebook Live tomorrow night (Monday 3 December 2018), 7pm Brisbane time.  If you are unavailable then, Facebook Live videos are saved under videos (who knew…) in the sidebar so you can watch anytime.  The Live session will be full of tips and tricks to make your cardmaking easy.

This project features Blackberry Bliss and Gray Granite cardstock and Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I used the dies from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies and the sentiment is from one of my favourite stamp sets this year, First Frost. As this DSP is double sided it was so easy to create a coordinating contrast for the diagonal strip.
