Santa’s Sleigh Christmas Sampler
I love creating framed samplers and if it is a Christmas sampler it is even more fun. I designed this framed sampler for my Christmas Extravaganza Creative Class, an all day event which gave us plenty of time to make it. I think it was the most popular project for the event.
Details:
Background Paper: Petals and Pinecones DSP 9-1/8” square (used two options Mint Macaron pattern and Real Red, Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron stripe).
Frame 9” x 9” from Ikea (Ribba 22509)
Real Red cardstock layers: 8” x 3-3/8” (sleigh); 4-3/8” x 3-5/8” (trees); 4-1/8” x 1-3/4” (Santa’s Hats), 4-1/4” x 4” (to be folded in half and then die cut using the 2-3/8 scallop Layering Squares Thinlit® to make a rectangular shape 4” x 2-1/2”).
Whisper White Cardstock 3-1/4” x 3-3/4”, after embossing 3-1/2” x 3-1/8” (sleigh); 4-1/2” x 3-3/4”, after embossing 4-3/16” x 3-1/8” (reindeer); 4-1/2” x 3-5/8, after embossing 4-1/4” x3-7/16” (trees); 4-1/4” x 1-1/4”, after embossing 4-1/8” x 1-5/8” (Santa’s hats).
Embossed Whisper White cardstock shapes were cut slightly larger than the finished product as once they were embossed there was some shrinkage. (Santa Hats – Holly; trees – Woodland; Sleigh – Softly Falling).
The Santa hat’s trim was punched from white glimmer paper (now retired) but Whisper White with clear Wink of Stella would add some sparkle if you don’t have the glimmer paper. The reindeer bows were die cut from Red Glimmer Paper and embellished with a metallic enamel shape.
The sentiment stamp from the Wonderful Year Stamp Set and one of Santa’s hats were coloured using Stampin’ Write Markers (Real Red and Emerald Envy).
The following shapes were adhered with dimensionals:
- One Emerald Envy tree
The following shapes were adhered using foam adhesive strips:
- One Emerald Envy tree
- All three Santa hats
- All three reindeer
- Gold Sleigh
- Scalloped Sentiment rectangle
- Christmas sentiment
No dimension:
- Gold tree
- Tree rectangular shape
- Reindeer rectangular shape
- Santa Hats rectangular shape
- Sleigh rectangular shape.
Christmas was ‘fussy cut’ out but there are coordinating Framelits® which I chose not to use on this occasion. The Emerald Envy trees were coloured with a flick of Wink of Stella.
