As always, there is a story behind this story and I hope you don’t mind me sharing what is behind this scrapbooking layout for the class this Friday. Lately, I have only been creating traditional scrapbook pages for classes and really it has been more about the process and less about the photos. But on this occasion, I didn’t have time to print out any photos and used some from ages ago. They were from my 50th birthday party. I hadn’t taken the photos – I am not even sure who did. But as I looked at the photos, everything from the night came back to me. And I considered all the things that had happened since that extremely happy event.
Life had not always been particularly kind to many of us in the photos. And some are fighting battles as I write this. And it made me momentarily despondent as I considered the life changing events that had occurred to each of us in the intervening time. But as I thought about it, I realised that we have also been blessed with family and friendship, as each of these pictures reminded me.
Photos provide that wonderful snapshot of life, of that moment in time. And I am so glad that I found those photos today that had been hiding away in my cupboard, created a layout and brought back some wonderful memories. Today, I was reminded again why I scrapbook – it is not about creating pages full of embellishments, design features and ‘products’ – it is about documenting life, and reliving those moments and understanding more about what makes ‘me’. Does scrapbooking sometimes have an emotional impact on you?
But before I start discussing the ‘meaning of life’, I had better get back to business. I have just finalised the optional kit for this week’s Scrapbooking and Project Life Creative class. It features the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper, a FREEBIE with every $90 purchased. Bring your own project or you can purchase the optional kit for an additional $5. This is a great deal because it means that you do not have to any of the design work (I have done all the hard work for you) and you don’t have to search through your stash to find all those bits and pieces – I have done all the preparation. Just bring along your basic kit.
Requirements for the kit:
Two 6 x 4″ photos (this layout will work with either two landscape or two portrait photos – but not a combination), plus miscellaneous photos to be chopped up. Cropped photos (1-7/8inches) can replace some of the patterned squares. The other photos were randomly cropped.
This is a great layout for those very ordinary party photos where you have balloons and drain pipes growing from heads. Sentiment interchangeable as always. Options this week with background base cardstock only – Lost Lagoon (pictured), Whisper White and Basic Black. Further details about the class can be found here. This class is always a lot of fun and numbers are limited. Kit is available for purchase separately for $20.
RSVP (including whether you wish to order the optional kit) required by Wednesday 2 March. Everyone is welcome, so bring along a friend.
Fun layout! Thank you so much for sharing your very first blog post with me 🙂
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, Jennifer. I love your projects on your blog.
