Can you believe this sweet card uses the Graveyard Gate by Stampin’ Up!- Global Stampers Challenge

Is there something sweet about these Thinlits, Detailed Gate by Stampin’ Up!

Graveyard Gate by Stampin' Up!, Graveyard Gate Thinlits, Stampin' Up! 2017 Christmas Holiday Catalogue Ann's PaperWorks| Ann Lewis| Stampin' Up! (Aus) online store 24/7

I created this project for the September Global Stampers Challenge Blog Hop.  The challenge was to select my favourite new product.  Now, this was a pretty hard task as I love so many of the new products.  But the Thinlits, Detailed Gate by Stampin’ Up!, kept capturing my eye.  This is a versatile product that would be easily overlooked in Australia, so decided to spotlight it.

Yesterday I posted a Halloween card using the Thinlits, Detailed Gate by Stampin’ Up!  These Thinlits have just been released as part of the new Stampin’ Up! Christmas Holiday Catalogue and are part of the Graveyard Gate bundle (p 54 Christmas Holiday Catalogue).

I knew the Halloween card would not be popular among my community as Halloween is not celebrated very much in Australia.  But I wanted to show you the versatility of these Thinlits.  Yesterday, they looked dark and foreboding in a ‘Halloweenish’ way.  I don’t own many/any Halloween Stamp Sets as I know very few will want to create a card using them.  But there are many stamp sets that can be converted to Halloween – check out yesterday’s post.

This card is the same design as yesterday’s but looks completely different with a change up in colours, stamp sets and embellishments. Today, look how cute it all looks, with a few flowers from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set (one of my favourites), stamped in Peekaboo Peach, and fussy cut.  I also teamed up with the oldest stamp set in the Catalogue, Lovely as a Tree.  The background was sponge brayered on Glossy White cardstock (the secret to the very smooth and easy colouring) using Pear Pizzazz, Peekaboo Peach and Soft Sky (with a light layer of Island Indigo over the Soft Sky).

More Details:

I used the stamp sets that I had on hand.  This design would work with so many different stamp sets.

The birds came from the High Tide Stamp Set and I have used these birds on so many projects.  Both the birds and the trees are stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink – for two reasons, better coverage and as the name suggests the Glossy White Cardstock is very shiny.  I did allow plenty of time for the ink to dry before brayering.  Lacking time or patience, your Heat Tool can speed up the process.

The Thinlit, Detailed Gate by Stampin’ Up!, was adhered using Foam Adhesive Strips for extra dimension.  They were the perfect width for most of the gate details.

This is a large detailed die – care is required when die-cutting.  I used the latest platform (Big Shot Platform #142802) from Stampin’ Up! that now is included in all Stampin’ Up! Big Shots – but can also be purchased separately if you have an older Big Shot.  I fed it through the Big Shot a few times and moved it around the plate to change the pressure points to ensure that I achieved a clean cut – which I did easily.

A few stems and leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzazz on the Glossy White cardstock.

I deliberately hung the sentiment at an angle to add some additional interest.

Measurements and Supplies:

Time required: 1hr  Experience Required: some card making experience useful.

Whisper White Thick Cardstock Card Base 11″ x 4-3/4″ – this card is larger than a standard size.  By slightly trimming the sides of the gate, the card could be reduced to 11″ x 4-1/4″.  Whisper White Thick Cardstock is required to stop the card from ‘bowing’ from the extra layers.

Glossy White Cardstock layer: 5-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, sponge brayered in Pear Pizzazz, Peekaboo Peach and Soft Sky/Island Indigo.

The Detailed Gate Thinlit was die cut from a piece of Black cardstock 4-3/4″ x 5″.

Thanks for your lovely comments, Valerie. I have only ordered Lovely as a Tree this year (can you believe that?) and I just love this scene that it creates.
