Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

I wanted to create a special Thoughtful Branches Congratulations card.  And as you have probably guessed by now, I am having a little bit of a love affair with the Limited Edition Thoughtful Branches bundle which is only available for the month of August (two weeks to go).  I think that this might be my last showcase of this bundle though.  I really should be moving onto introducing you to the new products from the Holiday Catalogue which will be released 1 September.

I have been working on changing up my style a little.  Sponging has never been one of my favourite techniques but I do love the finished product.  For this card, I decided I was really going to bite the bullet and achieve sponging that I was proud of.  I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  Perhaps some more sponging coming up – what do you think?

Details of the Thoughtful Branch Congratulations card:

The background has been stamped in a leaf pattern (Thoughtful Branches) in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Using the Emboss Resist technique, the background was then sponged with Bermuda Bay (my all time favourite colour).  The splotches came from the Painter’s Palette Stamp Set and are copper heat embossed.  I sponged a scrap strip of Whisper White cardstock in Bermuda Bay, Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon and then die cut (eight leaves) using the leaf die from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle.  The sentiment comes from the Tin of Cards stamp set and was die cut using the Layering Circle Framelits.  Copper Metallic Thread was added peeking out from behind the sentiment.  I have been surprised by how often I have used these Framelits – easy to use and makes the sentiment really ‘pop’.
