Timeless Love Wreath Easel Card

Simple Easel Card

Have you ever purchased a stamp set and then left it sitting  on the shelf for awhile.  Every time you look at it, you remember your grand ambitions, and feel a little guilty.  Timeless Love was that stamp set for me.  I loved it when I first saw the set and immediately knew which card  I wanted to create with it (this card).  But it just never happened.

And then I needed a special birthday card for a friend who I have known since second grade (a few years ago now).  So it was opportunity to use it. Whilst this card features a wreath, I had to stamp the image twice to make the wreath.  And the secret to the perfect placement of the wreath is using the stamp-a-ma-jig, a stamp positioning tool.  As I had inadvertently purchased the wood mounted version of the stamp set, it was even easier to use with the stamp-a-ma-jig because wood blocks are slightly thicker than clear mount blocks.  Not sure how to use a stamp-a-ma-jig, there are plenty of YouTube videos to help out.

I featured this card in my Technique Teaser Creative Class recently.

Details of Timeless Love Easel Card

  • Card base – Night of Navy cardstock 8-1/4″ x 4-1/8″, scored at 4-1/8″ and 6-1/4″.  Top layer of Easel Card – Night of Navy cardstock 4-1/8″ x 4-1/8″. sentiment strip – Night of Navy cardstock 1-1/2″ x 3-3/7″
  • Top Layer – Watercolor Paper 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″.  Sentiment strip – Watercolor Paper 1-1/4″ x 3-7/8″.
  • Inside layer – Whisper White cardstock 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″.

Because I was using a water colour technique, the images were stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink.  I watercoloured the four images ‘naively’ using three inks (Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry and Night of Navy)  – simply, quickly without too much detail, which made it so easy.   Not all the flowers were coloured to provide greater contrast.  The Watercolor sentiment strip is adhered to the Night of Navy strip using Stampin’ Dimensionals which keeps the easel card open and in place.
