Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper Holiday Card for the Global Stampers Challenge

Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper becomes a favourite

It is holiday time here in Australia and so it seems right around the world – hence why the theme for the July Global Stampers is holidays – something very dear to me.  There were so many projects running around in my head but I decided to go with my heart instead. When I first saw the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper (DSP), I didn’t get too excited – in fact, it went on my ‘never going to order ‘ list.  But then I fell in love with the gorgeous patterns.  And all of a sudden, I am in love with every sheet.  Does this ever happen to you? This DSP is perfect for holidays with its camping and photographic themes.

The sentiment ‘just breathe’ is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.

How cute is this card?

Details:

Time required: 1/2 hour; Skill Level: Basic

Sahara Sand card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″;
Basic Black Layer: 3-3/4″ x 5-1/8″;
Pick a Pattern DSP: 3-5/8″ x 5″ –  to the top and bottom of the card, I adhered a strip of the thinnest washi tape
Flirty Flamingo scrap for sentiment: 3-5/8″ x 7/8″.

Tips and Tricks:

The Basic Black layer adheres to the Sahara Sand card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I adhered the sentiment, bear and pink animal (is it a meerkat) using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the ‘meerkat’, which made it so much easier.  Have you tried these smaller Dimensionals?  They are so handy for little die cuts.

I fussy cut the bear and ‘meerkat’ leaving a small white border around each image.

The sentiment was stamped onto the Flirty Flamingo scrap paper;  the strip was cut into two pieces at an angle, as pictured.  I like how that ‘broke up’ the sentiment and made it easy to arrange to allow me to decide which DSP images were going to be visible.

Card insert and decorated envelope

Inside the Card and the Envelope:

The sentiment also comes from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.  The arrow pattern strip was created using a different design washi tape.  I fussy cut suitable images from the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper and these were adhered to the bottom of the card insert.

I used washi tape from the same set and another fussy cut image to decorate the naked ‘envelope’ – love the racoon, super cute…

Stampin’ Up! have revamped their washi tape offering this year – check them out on page 195 of the new Annual Catalogue.  I often buy washi tape but don’t use.  This new washi tape in its different widths and colour stories is so versatile and it is turning up on most of my projects.
