Dapper Denim Touches of Texture – Global Stampers’ Project

Today I am starting a new endeavour.  I have joined up with five other stampers (all Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators like me) from around the world to showcase projects to inspire you.  My fellow Global Stampers each have a website full of fabulous projects, so drop by and say hullo.

Let me introduce you to my fellow demonstrators:

From the United States – Robbie Rubala

Facebook Business page – https://www.facebook.com/Inkedx2-20…

From the UK – Fiona Whitten

Facebook Business page – https://www.facebook.com/Oakfield-C…
From France – Valérie Perlin
From New Zealand  – Alicia Yap
From Canada – Kelly Evans (details coming)
I will be featuring their projects in the coming days.

Denim Dapper Touches of Texture Project Details

Across the internet daily there are project challenges designed to inspire us.  But as a rule, I don’t participate – not because they are not a great idea but I never seem to find the time.  Challenges get us out of a rut, make us create with products that perhaps we have not used before or perhaps they ‘force’ us to use them in a different way.  So this project is my first challenge ever…… My challenge for this month was to use one of the 2016-17 In-Colors, Dapper Denim.

I immediately knew that I was going to create a ‘positive/negative card’.  And I also wanted to showcase a new Stamp Set that I had just received, Touches of Texture, which is chock a block full of gorgeous images and background stamps.

Paper:

Whisper White Cardbase: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/8″; Whisper White Card Layer: 5-3/8″ x 4″.

Square: First layer three squares in Whisper White and three in Dapper Denim at 1-5/8″ x 1-5/8″; second layer three squares in Whisper White and three in Dapper Denim at 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″;

The squares were die-cut using the Layering Squares Framelits.  Now I originally tried cutting these out using my trimmer which still worked but the Framelits just made them look ‘perfect’ as they leave a lovely edge on each of the shapes.

The sentiment (from Endless Thanks) was stamped on a Layering Circle Framelit diecut.

Ink:

Dapper Denim and Versamark

White Embossing Powder

Tips and Tricks:

Don’t forget to use your Embossing Buddy prior to heat embossing for a clean embossed image.

This design would work with lots of different ‘line’ stamp sets.

Ann ~ I love your card. It is very clever of you to do the positive/negative technique on this card. That set is on my wish list. You may have caused it to move up to the top. So glad you are part of our team!

Aaaw Robbie, thanks for making me feel welcome. You always make me smile. And thanks for the lovely feedback. It is is interesting, I don’t always consider that I am creative but this card design just popped into my head and was so easy to go with. The challenge worked well for me as it got me out of my comfort zone – perhaps that is what a challenge is supposed to do!!!!!!

Dapper Denim is one of my favourite colours at the moment and like Alicia says the use of the positive/negative technique is a great way to show it off with that lovely stamp set.

The positive/negative technique was a fantastic idea to showcase this bold colour! And I think you did a fabulous job for your first challenge. I look forward to continue working with you in our future monthly blogs 🙂
